V2 Rocket engine 1: Recycled Materials

V2 Rocket Engine:
exploration of form and function

"I decided that I needed to do something practical to look at the form of the V2 Rocket Engine, so I decided to create a model of the V2 Rocket Engine using found and recycled objects that I found at home."

Recycled Materials list:(first ideas)
  • yoghurt pots
  • straws
  • beads
  • cardboard
  • polystyrene
  • wood/dowels
  • pringles tube
  • bottles
  • cocktail sticks
  • bottle tops
  • washing up liquid bottles
  • elastic bands
What I actually used to make my Model:
  • Yoghurt Pot
  • the top section of a plastic Bottle
  • pringles lid
  • beads
  • wooden skewers
  • wooden dowels
  • copper wire
  • kinder egg, toy pod
  • electrical cable
creating my Recycled V2 Rocket Engine

This is the basis of my Rocket Engine, it is made out of a yoghurt pot, the top section of a plastic bottle and a pringles lid.

I then used beads to add the details of the tube connectors that connect the engine to the fuel supply.

I added wooden skewers onto my model to continue the shape and form of the model.

I then used wooden dowels to my structure, as another component of the V2 Rocket engine.

My completed recycled version of a V2 Rocket Engine.

"I found by making a copy of the V2 Rocket Engine out of random objects I was able to properly look at the shape and form of the rocket engine as I had to find recycled materials that follow the same shape or can be manipulated to form the same shapes as featured in the V2 Rocket Engine."
