Industrial Object for Non-Industrial People:
CAD Drawings
"In order to create my chandelier I drew my plans up into CAD Software so that I can easily cut it out in a variety of different materials - Such as Card, Wood & Acrylic."
Prototype 3 :
Cutting my first Lazer-cut prototype out:
Problems with Prototype 3:
- The plastic that my design was cut out of wasn't thick enough to support my design & was very brittle
- My design although effective ascetically, allowed stress razors to be built into my design, making it vulnerable to fracture and damage
- My original prototype(3) wasn't robust enough for practical use as a lighting feature within the home as it could have easily broken at any time, by any slight movement of knock.
"To overcome these problems i altered my design an had it cut in thicker acrylic sheeting, I altered my design adding in extra support and minimising the effect of stress razors in my design. by getting it re-cut out in thicker acrylic it meant that my next model chandelier would be able to withstand more use, the portability of being touched or bumped."
